HEAR FROM DELEISHA

I Became the Support I Once Needed

Hey y'all! I'm Deliesha, your passionate, grounded, and deeply understanding Black therapist here at On The Horizon Counseling, based in Raleigh, NC. I'm all about creating a space where you can show up fully, feel safe, and be met with care that actually gets it.

When I'm not supporting individuals and couples through relationship challenges, betrayal, infertility, pregnancy loss, and postpartum transitions in Raleigh, NC and virtually across North Carolina and South Carolina, I'm also navigating life in very real ways myself.

I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult (and yes, my current stim is "Nah, we cousins"), and I've walked my own journey through infertility and pregnancy loss. I'm a proud part of the #Iam1in4 community, and I'm also a wife who deeply understands how these experiences can shape a relationship in ways you don't expect.

RELATIONSHIP-CENTERED, CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE PERINATAL CARE

Care That Looks at the Whole Picture, Not Just One Problem

Therapy with me isn't about fixing you, it's about helping you feel safe enough to be fully seen. Our work is rooted in attachment, emotional safety, and honoring your lived experiences, which means we look at the whole picture, not just the problem in front of us. This practice sits at the intersection of relationship therapy, perinatal mental health, infertility, pregnancy loss, and culturally responsive care, because pregnancy, grief, intimacy, identity, and family expectations all affect each other. And because so much of perinatal support focuses only on the individual parent, this work also looks at the couple, the partner, and the whole family system throughout pregnancy, loss, and early parenthood.

MEET THE PERSON BEHIND THE PRACTICE

The Life That Shapes This Work

My husband and I have been through a lot together, including becoming parents to our three angel babies, August, Gideon, and Luna, and raising our incredible daughter, my "bean pie," Maya. Those experiences are not just part of my story, they're part of what allows me to sit with you in yours with empathy, depth, and understanding that goes beyond textbook knowledge.

And in true life-balance fashion, when I'm not in therapist mode, you might find me shaking "that thang" in a Zumba class, traveling, getting lost in anime (because One Piece is absolutely the GOAT), or cooking up something good in the kitchen.

Oh, and I can't forget our fur baby, Luffy, who keeps life full of unconditional love (even without a tail to wag).

JUST AS IMPORTANT: WHAT THIS PRACTICE ISN'T

Not a Quick Fix, and Not a Place to Perform Strength

This isn't a space for scripts, coping-skill checklists, or deciding who's right in a relationship. In couples work, the goal is understanding the cycle between partners, not blame. And this isn't a purely diagnosis-driven practice: culture, family history, faith, race, and the systems you're moving through all matter as much as any symptom on paper. You don't have to perform strength, rush your grief, or prove that things are bad enough to deserve support here.
